Friends old and new joined together for Malcolm and Dawn’s final service at DBC on Sunday, 24th July. Malcolm’s sermon, the last in a mini-series on Discipleship, was appropriately entitled “Continuing as a disciple” – challenging to the last! We were encouraged to continue to grow in our faith and develop our relationship with God, in mutual fellowship and support.

We had opportunity to express our thanks to Malcolm and Dawn, and our appreciation of their ten years of ministry here in Woodingdean. In that time, we have all grown stronger in our faith in Him and our love for each other.

As a fellowship, we have been so blessed by Malcolm’s challenging and up-building messages; his evangelistic heart; his care for us, his flock; his sense of humour; and his love, not only for the Lord, but his family, motorbike, juggling, chocolate and smelly cheese of course! And what can we say about Dawn? The perfect helpmate with her quiet service, smiling face ‘on the door’ and her genuine love and interest in people!

Our time together finished with a relaxed, shared lunch (and delicious chocolate cake!) before final goodbyes. It was a great day, sad in some respects but full of hope and encouragement for the future not only for Malcolm and Dawn but for DBC also.
