OurLeaders
The aim of all leadership at DBC is to prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ might become mature.
This means using the ministry leadership gifts outlined in Ephesians 4 as appropriate:
- linking with other ministries in and outside the local church (apostleship)
- discerning and declaring what God is saying (prophecy)
- reaching out to others outside the church (evangelism)
- encouraging well being and fellowship (pastoring)
- encouraging spiritual growth (teaching)
Our elders and deacons all live in the Woodingdean area and are committed to developing the life of the church within the community.
At present we are “in between” ministers and are being assisted at this time by our moderator, Rev Clive Jarvis and his leadership team at Seaford Baptist Church.
The DBC leadership team is currently 7 strong. Here’s your chance to get to know some more about them:
OurPastor

Mr/Mrs Right
DBC is currently without a Pastor. We have put together a search team consisting of the church leadership team plus a couple of other church members. We have faith that God has just the right person lined up for us and we look forward to meeting them & welcoming them into our leadership team, but more importantly into our family.
OurElders
John Cassé
John is currently our sole elder at DBC.
Along with wife Faith, he oversees the ministry of the church and provides pastoral care for the church family.
John is also one of the few at DBC to have personally visited the mission projects in Romania that the church supports.
OurDeacons
Lis Bell
Lis is responsible for the Church’s day to day administration.
She plays piano, regularly providing the music for the worship at the adult evening service on Sundays.
Alison Jackson
Alison has a real heart for the church prayer life and is one of 3 of our body making up a prayer team which organise events such as the PIT (prayer initiative time) stop. She has also previously been on our worship team as a singer.
Phil Nunney
Phil has been a deacon for several years now, primarily responsible for looking after DBC’s greengrocer shop.
Phil has always had a great passion for youth and whilst he is not currently involved, for some 20 years or more he served on our youth team running both 14:29 and Kazzap, one of our mid-week outreach groups.
Martyn Raynor
Martyn serves as the primary contact for matters relating to church properties, having previously served as shop deacon prior to Phil.
He is DBC’s principal link to the Churches Together initiative in Woodingdean, helping to coordinate monthly prayer events in the local community.
Gareth Woolcott
Gareth is the DBC Treasurer. He also oversees the Evangelical aspect of DBC’s youth work and assists Phil with the church Greengrocer.
Gareth’s heart is clearly focused on the youth of Woodingdean. He first started leading youth activites at the start of the Cretaceous era. Each year he plays the key role in organising weekend camps for the various outreach groups of DBC. He also arranges an annual weekend away which many families in the church greatly appreciate.
